Vicki Smith is an artist who works to create connections for community within the marine, terrestrial and freshwater ecological spaces.
Her working career began as a technician within the New Zealand Forest Service before leaving to study. She spent five years as an observer for the Ministry of Fisheries. Most recently she has been contracting within the Science and Environment team of Nelson Council and with Community Art Works creating projects and events representing freshwater and riparian projects. She is currently engaged in a project creating a Story Walk through a local restoration project in her community on the West Coast.
Vicki has experience in running events and working across all ages in education from early childhood through to tertiary. Her primary focus is in participants having agency, and sharing important stories that monitoring data offers about our environment, and generating hopeful actions for its protection.
Vicki has been involved in Tasman Bay Guardians since beginning as a volunteer for the Rotokura (Cable Bay) and Tonga Quarry snorkel events in 2016.
