I love the mountains, rivers, oceans, and wild places. At some point in my teenage years, my awareness of these natural environments, the perceptions we have of them, and the reality didn’t quite meet up. To explore these thoughts further, I studied Environmental Science and Botany, obtaining a BSc in the 1990s, and more recently, a Diploma in Environmental Management. My work life led me in different directions whilst still endeavoring to uphold my environmental aspirations through life choices and the many volunteer opportunities available. Fortunately, in recent years, I have cycled back into the environmental arena and have had the privilege of being involved in some long-term water quality monitoring within a wetland environment. I have held a long-term fascination and interest in wetlands and their function within our ecosystem.
This role with MTS & Tasman Bay Guardians is now giving me the opportunity to get stuck in and effect real change on the ground, in and around our waterways with a group of passionate and dedicated people. I believe that the health of our waterways is essential to our health as a people.
