Kia Ora, growing up on the edge of the Moutere inlet I have always had a strong connection to our marine and freshwater environment. Harvesting Kia Moana on my doorstep is a value I hold highly and want to strive to ensure we can safely do this for many generations. I connect strongly with the top of the South Island, its estuaries, bays, rivers, mountains, and valleys.
I have a background in horticulture and nature guiding (above and below the water), as well as a wealth of experience in project management.
Now working for Tasman Bay Guardian in our region as a “Wai connector” – connecting communities with their water.
Since 2020 I have worked with the Tasman Environmental Trust and supported the Moutere Catchment Group in the planting of over 380,000 native plants and in establishing 50km of riparian fencing in the catchment. During this time I became the regional SHMAK train for Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust, which has progressed into the Wai connection programme.
