Do you want to see what lives in the awa? Bring whānau and friends to this free community event at Waitapu and snorkel your way down the awa. Tasman Bay Guardians in collaboration with Manawhenua ki Möhua offers an exciting chance to discover the underwater world with the support of an experienced snorkel guide, and all necessary equipment is provided! Enjoy the adventure while learning how to swim safely in rivers.

There will also be community day activities. Workshops and demos from various groups will include a session from DOC on whitebaiting rules, kōrero tuku iho (ancestral stories) shared from whānau of Mohua, macroinvertebrate (fancy name for bugs) ID, tuna hinaki (eel trapping), ‘check clean, dry’ protocols, and pest weed ID and elimination strategies.
