Native Nursery Programme
This is an innovative native nursery programme, contributing to restorative planting projects by learning how to grow and supply native plants within our region. Students learn about Rongoa and natural plant ecology.
- Eco sourcing seeds
- Germinate seeds
- Propagate seedlings and harden off plants
- Planting trees with guards
- Tree maintenance (weeding)
The trees are then on-sold or gifted to local landowners to assist with restoration projects and improve waterways.
The project is an innovative way to engage schools, communities and tamariki in a sustainable effort that brings about positive environmental change.
Warning! Following this programme, schools may become inspired to build their own nurseries. We can support this journey as well.
