Love Rimurimu

An ocean of potential

We are excited to introduce the Love Rimurimu education programme to Te Tau Ihu. With a strong focus on restoration from the outset, this programme has traversed the Cook Strait, developed by Mountains to Sea Wellington and generously shared as an open-source project. Supported by experts and technical advisors from the Cawthron Institute and Experiencing Marine Reserves, the Love Rimurimu programme is a comprehensive, year-long inquiry.

The programme delves into seaweed diversity and its importance in the marine environment, explores human impacts and climate change, and promotes seaweed solutions and marine restoration. It culminates in taking action, sharing knowledge, and reflecting on the learning journey. Educators have the flexibility to choose shorter inquiry options or tailor the programme to meet student needs. This programme is aimed at year 9 and 10 however can be modified to suit any age group.

School Programme
