Come along to Whakapuaka / Cable Bay on Saturday 19th of November to explore the underwater world with an experienced snorkel guide.
Keep your eyes peeled for spotties, eagle rays, triple fins, blue cod, and even seahorses! This popular annual event is hosted by the Experiencing Marine Reserves (EMR) team through local environmental charity Tasman Bay Guardians.
Since 2002, EMR (a programme of the Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust ) has guided thousands of people through school and community snorkel experiences around New Zealand. EMR increases awareness and encourages action and support for marine conservation. Participants are encouraged and empowered to become kaitiaki (guardians) or their local marine areas.
This event is made possible by generous sponsorship from Port Nelson, the Department of Conservation, Sealords and Tasman Bay Guardians. A large team of volunteers assist the EMR team with specialist support coming from our amazing Tasman Bay Guardians Volunteers, Department of Conservation staff, Ngāti Tama hau kainga (karakia), Nelson Deputy Harbourmaster (safety boat), Abel Tasman Eco Tours (safety kayak) and Abyss diver will share fascinating facts about marine life while snorkel guiding.
For ages 5 to adult (children must be accompanied by an adult). This is a free event and a koha/ donation is welcome. Snorkels, masks, wetsuits and flippers are provided or you may bring your own.
You must register with Eventbrite to book your place for this event.
