Planting with the Roding Catchment Group

The Roding Catchment Group have set a fantastic goal this year to plant 6,700 native trees and plants in the Aniseed Valley, and are off to a flying start! They have 12 restoration sites they are focusing on this season, and have secured their plants through Trees That Count, a Westpac NZLandcare grant, and through growing their own plants in a community nursery with eco-sourced seeds they collected.

These planting days have been intergenerational and family friendly

The Roding Catchment Group have involved the local community, the school, as well as friends and family from around the region in these planting days, and even had a very enthusiastic team of volunteers from Westpac Bank who powered through an 800 tree site in 2 hours!

The group are currently halfway through planting their 6700 tree goal, and plan to have 2 more community planting days after the school holidays. Tasman Bay Guardians are so proud of what this new group has achieved in such a short space of time, and can’t wait to see what they do next.

The group has secured funding for plant guards through the Westpac NZlandcare Trust fund, as well as a grant from Tasman Pine.
